Richard Hudson: Follow the money

U.S. Representative — North Carolina’s 9th Congressional District

Richard Hudson has been in Congress since 2013. But as chair of the NRCC, his real job is raising money for the Republican Party — not representing you.

Only 0.5% of His Money Comes From Regular People.

Hudson’s fundraising comes almost entirely from corporate PACs. He was the #1 pharmaceutical PAC recipient in Congress in 2020 — taking $240,600 from drug companies while opposing legislation to lower prescription drug costs.

He Took $83,600 From a Convicted Felon.

Indicted businessman Greg Lindberg gave Hudson $83,600. After the conviction, Hudson returned just $15,400 to charity — and kept the rest. His mentor, former Rep. Robin Hayes, pleaded guilty to bribery in the same scheme.

He Voted to Overturn the 2020 Election.

Hudson voted to object to certifying Electoral College results on January 6, then voted against establishing a commission to investigate the attack. Since then, corporations have given him over $2.6 million — making him the 3rd-highest corporate PAC recipient in the Sedition Caucus.

He Told Republicans to Stop Facing Voters.

In 2025, Hudson told House Republicans to stop holding in-person town halls, calling constituents who ask tough questions “paid protesters.” His alternative: meetings with vetted attendees.

He Led the Effort to Repeal the ACA.

Hudson repeatedly voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act and supported the lawsuit to strip pre-existing condition protections — all while cashing checks from the pharmaceutical industry.

He Mocked Jimmy Carter on His Deathbed.

On Presidents’ Day 2023, Hudson’s account posted a joke about Carter — 48 hours after the former president entered hospice. His office blamed “staff scheduling” and deleted it.
